Doctor job ads in Germany, the UK and France: what 25,000 listings show
Medhub collects doctor job ads every day from public job boards so international doctors can see where the work is. This page counts what those boards showed on 30 October 2026. The headline: in Germany, most of what looks like a huge job market is a few advertisers posting the same ad many times.
Key findings
- On 30 October 2026, the German federal job board (Bundesagentur für Arbeit) listed 20,704 active job ads for doctors.
- Six advertisers posted 13,831 of those 20,704 German doctor ads (67%).
- The largest single advertiser posted 7,781 German doctor ads covering 2,646 different towns, the pattern of one recruitment ad repeated per location rather than 7,781 separate vacancies.
- Leaving out the six largest advertisers, 6,870 German doctor ads remained, posted by 1,653 hospitals, practices, MVZ and other employers.
- Only 10.7% of German doctor ads (2,221) were for Assistenzarzt posts, the training grade where most international doctors start after their Approbation.
- NHS Jobs listed 2,234 doctor ads from 862 employers on 30 October 2026, and 37% of them (826) were consultant posts.
- French public hospitals listed 2,049 doctor ads on the FHF job board on 30 October 2026, led by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (301) and Nouvelle-Aquitaine (279).
Germany: 20,704 ads, far fewer advertisers
Six advertisers posted two thirds of all German doctor ads. Their ads span hundreds or thousands of towns each, so a count of ads overstates the number of distinct jobs. For a doctor planning a move, the 6,870 ads from the other 1,653 advertisers are closer to the real choice of employers.

Method
- Sources: Bundesagentur für Arbeit job search (Germany), NHS Jobs (England, Wales and some other UK employers), the FHF job board (French public hospitals). Each is read once a day; the source list is on our sources page.
- An ad counts as active if the daily sync saw it in the two days before 30 October 2026.
- These are ads, not vacancies. One job can be advertised by several recruiters, and one recruiter can post one ad in many towns.
- Advertisers are counted by the employer name on the ad. The six largest German advertisers are counted by that name, not classified by us.
- Grade and specialty are read from the job title, so ads with vague titles fall into "not stated".
- Australia, Canada and Italy are left out: our sources there cover only some states or portals, so totals would not be comparable.
